Natural Remedies to Prevent Sinus

Medically known as Sinusitis, sinus infection occurs when nasal cavities develop an infection. The infection is in the form of inflammation due to bacteria from mucus stuck in the nasal pathways. Sinus medications are available in many forms. It is also curable naturally with remedies found in and around our homes. Some of them are as follows:

Inhaling steam
Add some Peppermint oil or Eucalyptus oil to hot steaming water, cover your head with a towel, face down, and breathe the steam in. This process of inhaling steam loosens and eliminates mucus from your nose and relieves sinus.

Turmeric/ Ginger root
Turmeric contains a compound called Curcumin that has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Ginger root is spicy in nature, and together, these can be brewed into a tea that can decongest nose, alleviate headaches, and prove beneficial for colds and sinusitis.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a naturally occurring ingredient with a huge array of health benefits. Two or three tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a cup of hot water or tea will help get rid of excessive mucus and relieve congestion.

Vitamin C
Vitamins are the fastest way to build up an immune system. Vitamin C supplements can help relieve mild cases of sinusitis very easily without any extra sinus medication. Fruits rich in Vitamin C like oranges can also help cure the cold and congestion.

Dietary control
Some foods can aggravate sinus and cold which should be avoided. Consumables such as sugar, fruit juices, dairy products, refined flour, refined grains. Excessive salt may affect the sinus adversely. Instead of depending on sinus medication eating foods such as ginger, garlic, horseradish, chicken broth, and onions can help you get relief from the symptoms of sinus. A measured water intake can also flush out excess toxins while relieving cold to a great extent.

Essential oils
Essential oils can help immensely in controlling and eliminating congestion like grapeseed oil, oregano oil, peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil.
