Also, the doctor will conduct a physical examination as well as other imaging tests like ultrasounds, X rays and even MRI scans so as to study the kidneys and the surrounding areas. A urinalysis and biopsy may also be conducted so as to find out how much damage has already been done and how it may be treated and contained. This will also help in showing the doctor the exact progression of the disease so that the proper corrective treatment measures may be taken.

Treatment: Immunotherapy is one of the foremost methods of treatment followed by chemotherapy and surgery where a part of the kidneys may be removed so as to stop the progression of the cancer. This is called a radical cystectomy. There is usually a five year survival rate for most people who are suffering from stage 0 to stage 2 of this disease.
